Dinner Time!

After years of using our much-appreciated-yet-hand-me-down dining room tables, we finally did it.  We bought one.  Off of Craigslist, of course, because I'm cheap frugal like that.  And we can fit more people around it - yay!  Who wants to come for dinner??

Kids Say the Darndest Things

It seems like I've been posting a lot lately about what my kids are saying.  But the way I figure it, some of the things that come out of their mouths are just priceless and should be preserved.  And where better to preserve it than here on our family blog?

Here is Olivia's latest wisdom:

"Mom, I've noticed that it's a lot easier for boys to make new friends than for girls.  With boys they just need to like the same video game or something.  With girls it's a lot more complicated."

And of course, we can't leave Kelsey out.  This afternoon she tells me this:

"The reason I go for Maddox or treadmill all the time is because they are both new.  I go for new things.  Unless they don't belong to us, that is."

I Do!

Connor has started volunteering for everything.  It usually goes something like this:

Mom: Who wants to say the prayer?
Connor: I do!

Mom: Who wants a sandwich for lunch?
Connor: I do!

Mom: Who wants to let in Trixie?
Connor: I do!

So, like any parent would do, I've started having fun with it.

Mom: Who wants to eat dragon boogers?
Connor: I do!

Mom: Who wants to lick my shoe?
Connor: I do!

In fact, I have assumed that he doesn't really ever know what he's volunteering for.  So tonight, I said, "Who wants to spank Mommy's bum?"  Connor of course yelled out, "I do!"

At the time, Connor was busy with his dad getting ready for bed.  Several minutes later, I felt someone smack my behind.  It was Connor!  Silly boy.  He wasn't REALLY supposed to spank my bum...

Guess I better watch my mouth!

A Few Funnies

What a crazy couple of months it has been around here.  I think I've got my act together and then I seem to fall apart all over again!  However, we have had a few smiles and laughs around here.  And I even got some on camera:

Back in December we helped out with a Christmas party with some other homeschool kids.  I insisted on snapping a picture that Kelsey did not want taken.  She made sure I knew it by her expression.

And speaking of Kelsey's facial expressions...

My kids love to climb the statues at the zoo.  I think most kids do.  The only rule I have is that you have to be able to climb it on your own - I'm not helping.  There's this one huge gorilla statue that sometimes takes a little work on Olivia's part.

One morning Kelsey and Connor decided to have some fun with a Huggies box.  Connor would hide inside and Kelsey would shut him up in the box.

Kelsey tried to fit in, too.

She got stuck.

Trixie has found a new favorite place to sit.

And Connor has been sleeping all over the place.
And I do mean ALL over the place.

Happy January, everyone!

Santa Baby

I can't believe how long it's been since I've uploaded pictures from my camera!  No, we haven't gotten a new one yet - our old one gave one last "hurrah" so I've put it off.  But I have my eye on what I want...

Anyhow, I uploaded the pics today and found Olivia had been taking a bunch of goofy pictures.  This one is obviously from about a month ago.  Poor, poor Trixie.

"The Big L"

In our family, "The Big L" is what we call the last person buckled into their seat belt when we're racing, since there are no "losers" in this family.  We haven't done much racing since Maddox has been born - probably because parents/older siblings are almost ALWAYS bucking in 2 little boys.  However, Ben and I are now vying for this title on purpose.  Or should I say "The Biggest L"?

No, we aren't going on TV or anything like that.  We're just involved in a friendly competition with some of our friends.  As a result, we're both learning to eat healthier, much to the kids' dismay.  Don't worry, we aren't depriving them totally.  I got a bag of Dum-Dums for them to have from time to time.

It's a 4-month long competition.  We'll keep you posted!  Cuz as our friend  Sarah B. (also in the competition) put it: "It is ON like Donkey Kong."

Hot diggity!

Happy New Year!

The New Year has come, hip-hip-hooray!
There's so much I want to do today.
Clean the house, take down the tree -
I think I need three more of me!
