I heard today via Sherrie's blog about a website that just might change my life forever!
First let me say that I really do have a testimony of the benefits of daily scripture reading. That having been said, there are only 2 times in my life that I have been successful in maintaining daily scripture study. The first was the months before, after, and during my 18 month mission to New Jersey. The second was the 2 years I spent teaching early morning seminary.
I don't know exactly why it has been so hard for me. Maybe because I'm the type of person that seems to always stay busy. It's hard for me to sit down and read, and especially now that I have kids awake for most of my awake hours, when I do slow down and read at night, I usually want to read something more frivolous - like my current read: Brisingr.
However, on Sherrie's blog yesterday she posted a link to a website called www.ReadTheScriptures.com that will email you your daily scripture reading assignment to you. Considering I am ALWAYS on my email at least once a day (with the possible exception of Sundays) this is a bonus for me! I'm sure these have been out for a while, but I didn't even think to look for them, thus my excitement in this new "find". And it appears that I can even be part of a discussion group (if desired), highlight meaningful passages, track my progress, and even listen to the audio of the scriptures while I'm folding laundry. Can it get any better than this? We'll see...

How fun.:) And thanks for the scripture reading reminder...heaven knows I could use it!
This is a great idea! In fact, I went right to the site and signed up. However, when I got to the part about which standard work and which specific book to begin with, I hesitated a moment before deciding to start with Psalms. I also checked the option to be involved with a reading group or team. Where did you start? I'm really looking forward to this. Thanks for the tip.
I started with D&C since it's our Sunday School assignment for this year. I read my first assignment today, and loved it. Actually, I listened to the audio and read along at the same time... even better!
I'm thinking of signing the family up after taking a look at it. Hey guess what, Kiersten was nominated to go to EUROPE!!!!! Love love LOVE my apron by the way. Mike says I look cuter than normal in it.
I see you have the "link thing" worked out :)
I love visiting Sherrie's blog b/c she always has fabulous information to share! Your comments there and your post was interesting to me...I have learned more about you from blogging than in person...it's funny how that works.
Since I've just started a study of Proverbs, I signed up for Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecc. and customized it for 45 days. It's so neat. Today I read the passage on my Blackberry, and it was a weird/funny/pleasant experience. There I was waiting at the car wash reading the scriptures on my cell phone. Awesome. Busy 2009 life in the fast lane was taking place all around me, but I was being uplifted and calmed by the words of the psalmist.
