Mini-Me

When Olivia was born, Ben's grandmother called her "Little Ben". And sure enough, she just didn't look like me at all. She looked very Ervin-ish. She was long, skinny, and had dark brown hair - what there was of it. She was adorable, but I often said it would have been nice to have a kid that looked like me.

But time marches on... and Olivia is becoming more like me every day. Consider the evidence:

Yes, there you have it! She is sorting M&M's by color before she eats them! I'm so proud... everything should be nice, neat, and orderly like these M&Ms.

But this is not all. Remember the last picture of her I posted? She fell on her face at school. I'm not proud of my clumsiness, but I'll own it. I've walked into poles back when I was in high school. So has Olivia. I've tripped and fallen more times than I can count. Olivia has ripped the knees out of almost ALL of her pairs of jeans.

We won't stop there, though. I'll confess the most convincing evidence of all, though it shames me to admit it. When I was in my early teens I can remember riding in the car with my mom down Decker Blvd towards home. I remember telling her that she needed to go ahead and move over into the left lane so she could turn on our street. My mother, the ever-sweet and loving woman who raised me, refused to switch lanes and drove the long way home just to spite me because it annoyed her I was trying to side-seat drive. Yes, it has been going on for several months now. Olivia is a back-seat driver. She's always trying to tell me and Ben the best way to get places, or where to turn. Or what parking lot to cut through. Mom, I'm so sorry. Is this the torture I put you through??

... of course... now that I think about it... in my defense... my mother-in-law is much worse about back-seat driving than I ever was!! (I love you, Mom, but you know it's true!) Maybe Olivia IS a true Ervin after all...

So she's a tad OCD, clumsy and a back seat driver. Yep, she's you with a little bit of mom thrown in. I never drive anywhere with mom if I can help it.

So fun to learn more about Olivia! I would never have guessed she'd be a back seat driver. :)

EXCUSE ME but I just happen to pay attention to where I'm going and what's going on around me. I can't help it if I like to find the best way of getting anywhere. Gas doesn't just spring out of the ground you know.
